THE ART OF TURNING YOUR LIABILITIES INTO ASSETS

KEYNOTE, workshop, one-on-one

In this engaging program, Mike will guide you through the discovery of self-awareness and how you can shift your perspective from thinking you have traits that are hindering you are making you a liability to how those very traits are your inner source for success and empowerment.

Everyone is born with their innate qualities, their God given traits, if you will. Some people are lighthearted, some people are serious, some people are energetic and excitable, and some are reserved and shy. These are all traits that are evident as an infant. Ask any mother, these are traits they can see when their child was an infant. These traits are what make a person, who they are. They give the, personality, they give them their strengths and their weaknesses.

WHAT IS HEALTH: THE SEARCH FOR TOLERANCE

MEN:tality

keynote, WORKSHOP, one-on-one

Today I believe we are facing a psychology epidemic, one in which people no longer realize it is okay for things to suck sometimes.

We are becoming less and less tolerant of the struggles of others AND ourselves. As a culture we this is even more evident.

Many of us no longer have the capacity to withstand the obstacles and road bumps in life. As the world has become ever increasingly external, we have not addressed the internal habits and abilities to cope with these stimuli. Through self-awareness we can start addressing the distress often caused by: ambiguity, frustration, negative emotional states and physical sensation (the unpleasant, emotional trauma, psychological harm, physical threats for ourselves and others).

As we addresses the obstacles in life, Mike will offer ways to tolerate the distress factors in life and deal with them in an educated and healthy manner. How many times do we heat the sayings:

“I can’t stand this?” “Can it get any worse?” “It shouldn’t be this way!” “I should be able to handle this!”

People who have the tools and ability to change are largely happier and more successful in their lives. By being able to tolerate discomforts of obstacles and change, we are able to be self-aware of the aspects of life that we can control instead of wasting time under chronic periods of distress and stress. Instead of saying “I wish this or I hope that” we are able to tolerate the problems in life and instead of being consumed by them, move past them and use them as lessons to help us grow. We use the distress to our advantage and move forward because of it.

UNMASKED: THE ROAD TO 0.000000003984: HEALTHY HABITS TO ACHIEVING GREATNESS

KEYNOTE, WORKSHOP, ONE-ON-ONE

What differentiates the 30 best in the world at what they do?

The answer. Adaptability.

The best in the world are never there. They are living the never ending story. They are constantly trying to improve.

Why does this matter? Because most of us are afraid of change. In order to grow, you must change. Staying in your comfort zone doesn’t promote growth.

Kaizen: The Japanese strategy where employees at all levels of a company work together proactively to achieve regular, incremental improvements to the manufacturing process. In a sense, it combines the collective talents within a company to create a powerful engine for improvement.

Be selfish in giving.

The term toxic masculinity is being thrown around like Skittles during Halloween.

We have all heard or used expressions like "man up" or “big boys don’t crying.” We often use language to reinforce the stereotypical expectations of men and as we know this is often associated with women.

Think about a term like “guy code”:  it refers to the unspoken rules that men are “brosville’.

Starting from childhood, boys and men are often called out for behavior that doesn’t match society’s definition of manhood. It might take the form of name calling (“sissy,” “punk,” “wuss”), being told that they're “gay” or “throw like a girl,” or aggression against them such as hitting, bullying, or even sexual assault.

This forces men in to two choices: go along with stereotypical male roles (even if they personally don’t agree with them) OR push back against the rules (going against the grain).

Actually, research shows that MOST men don't personally agree with “real men” stereotypes. Unfortunately, many go along with the expected attitudes and behaviors because they think most other men endorse them. What that means is that most men actually support a fuller range of human emotions and behaviors.

The country is craving for men who are simply ‘themselves.’ Men who are respectful and empowering to all, bold in their identity and tolerant of themselves and others.

Mike is on a mission to draw the focus away from the negativity and pessimism surrounding “toxic” men who are the problem and instead offer a solution to the problem.

There are many different ways to be a man. Acknowledging this provides an opportunity for everyone (all genders) to be respected for who they are and, in turn, give respect to others.

We will first need to identify, what is the state of masculinity?

Has masculinity always been like this?

And most importantly, where does masculinity need to go?

Then ACT!

Ultimately the audience will have taken note of the current issues men are facing, identify how masculinity has evolved, if at all, over time and consider how their daily decisions and actions can influence not only the people around them, but the world. Ideally by arming members of the audience to positively change their views and actions of masculinity, they are in turn challenging other men to do the same.
